Reuleaux Lamp
This piece is as much a work of art as it is a functional object. Triangles are harsh, uninviting shapes, however, when formed of three intersecting arcs you get a softer form that is more substantial, elegant and considered.
The workings of the lamp are shrouded between two blinker-like, dished and polished bronze disks, creating a multitude of surfaces for the light to interact with. This creates deep, warm scattered hues that dance on the walls and ceiling, almost superimposing the organic bronze surface on the surrounding environment.
This simple yet distinct design will create a stunning feature that will pull focus anywhere it is placed.

Description -
I use a combination of lost foam and green sand casting for this piece. The foam form is buried in the sand and replaced with molten bronze during the pouring process. Each piece is hand finished over several weeks, either by hand polishing or surface patination, depending on the finish chosen by the client.
Generally, the type of metal is Silicon bronze, an alloy containing 96% copper, 3% Silicon and 1% Manganese (see above pictures). We can however cast in several other alloys and colours of metal.
The electrical component of the lamp conforms to all UK and European regulation. If you have specific requirements from outside this area please let us know and we’ll make every effort to ensure regulations for your country, are met.
Custom Finish & Materials -
There are four standard finishes; polished bronze, aged bronze patina, blackened bronze and white bronze. I am however happy to discuss other finishes and materials with you. Disclaimer -
All pieces are made to order. The piece pictured here is to show the design and finish, however your piece may differ slightly as the processes used don’t create perfect replicas. The casting process creates small imperfections and voids in the surface which will be seen on the finished piece. Each piece is then hand hammered to manipulate the shape, and surface ground, giving an organic, imperfect finish. If you would like more information please get in touch so we can discuss the process with you.
